Flux marine is developing a new generation of electric outboard motors that challenge the perception of electric boating as slow, unreliable, and expensive. With a ground-up design, Flux Marine can double the energy efficiency and increase over 30% the cruising range in high speed mode compared to benchmarking electric motors. Furthermore, thanks to the innovative system design, maintenance cost and engine noise are significantly reduced. Flux Marine is introducing various propulsion systems over the next five years, starting with outboards from 8 to 150 hp, and expanding to inboard and hybrid variants. Proprietary design suite and intellectual property is composed by (i) a specialized pack design, (ii) a high-output powertrain, robust and high continuous discharge, (iii) an innovative cooling system, with heat exchanger incorporated into motor structure that avoids seawater ingestion, (iv) a novel belt drive system, efficient and self-lubricating, and (v) an efficient propeller, high torque with low RPM and no thru-hub exhaust. The unique torque curves of electric motors allow to employ a propeller that has strong acceleration and efficiency characteristics across a very wide operating range. The modular battery design allows for stacking for increased range or performance.
