Battle Sight has developed a patent pending technology named Falling Saberä that combines a lightweight, low profile hardware form factor with proprietary software to deliver real time positional data from the moment assets leave the aircraft until they are covertly recovered on the ground. Using highly specialized chipsets and software applications integrated into existing Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) systems, Falling Saber collects pre-drop atmospheric information on wind and drift at varying altitudes to improve accuracy without traditional streamers. Falling Saber then tracks each package, vehicle or person to the ground reporting global positioning system (GPS) location, disposition and ground movement information directly to the ATAK unit. Additional infrared (IR) strobe and audible chirps can be activated from the ATAK control unit to aid further in recovery. Falling Saber’s exact positional information and ATAK interoperability saves time and lives by allowing ground forces to quickly identify and secure airdropped assets and personnel and develop tactical covert approaches for asset recovery in contested areas where near peer threats exist.
