The CHEF system is a product that facilitates the rapid generation of offensive cyber implants through an automated implant generation application. Operationally, if a software implant is detected and captured by a commercial anti-virus product, the software implant is “signatured” so that implants with this signature are easily captured. For this reason, one would want to minimize the common signatures in implants used – a concept throughout industry known as signature diversity. The demand for signature diversity has caused each implant to be custom built – costing users money and time. Since CHEF primarily uses open source modules to build implants, these signatures hide in plain sight.
