The CHEF system is a product that facilitates the rapid generation of offensive cyber implants through an automated implant generation application. Operationally, if a software implant is detected and captured by a commercial anti-virus product, the software implant is signatured so that implants with this signature are easily captured. For this reason, one would want to minimize the common signatures in implants used a concept throughout industry known as signature diversity. The demand for signature diversity has caused each implant to be custom built costing users money and time. Since CHEF primarily uses open source modules to build implants, these signatures hide in plain sight.
