Virtual EM and Case Western Reserve University are teaming to propose a standoff cardiopulmonary sensing technology to aid remote monitoring of airman and others ' physiological state of healthboth in the field and in the office environments. While the pulmonary sensing unit could be operated meters away, the cardio signals are picked up in closer proximity to the body.remote monitoring, cardiopulmonary sensing, remote sensing,Remote Health Monitoring

Virtual EM Inc. is teaming with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) to combine their experience and expertise in wireless system development and biological signal analysis, conditioning, and interpretations. The proposed system will use innovative electric-field sensors and signal processing algorithms to provide meaningful non-contact monitoring data indicative of both cardiopulmonary and cognitive functions in crowded and noisy environments such as command and control or cyberwarfare centers. The data can be further analyzed to estimate the fitness for duty of Airmen in such environments, both in the context of their role and their ability to complete critical operational tasks.
