Trex Enterprises Corporation proposes to design, develop, demonstrate, and prototype a Secure Personal Display (SPD) that eliminates the possibility of Visual Eavesdropping in public places. This device will provide access to classified or confidential information when and where it is needed. It includes two sub-systems that work in concert: i) a biometric identification system, which positively identifies authorized individuals, and ii) an image projection system, which includes a retinal scanning head-worn display incorporating an optical combiner with rugate, or rugate-like, notch coating. This ensures negligible light leakage outside of the display. Biometric identification is performed continuously on the iris of the eye that receives the projected image. Liveness detection tests will be integrated into the biometric identification sub-system to detect spoofing attempts. It is expected that during Phase-I the following results will be obtained: i) system requirements will be defined; ii) system architecture will be developed; iii) Initial design and CONOPS of the SPDwill be developed; iv) a demonstration of theretinal scanning HWD with integrated iris ID subsystem will be performed;v) requirements for the SPD system electronics and embedded processor will be defined and vi) initial design of a Phase-II prototype will be developed.Data Security,Biometric Identification, virtual retinal display, sensitive information access
