By applying a thin film transistor (TFT) array to a flat panel display technology such as an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display, current high-quality (high-resolution) display products including TV, Tablet PC, and smartphone screens have been successfully realized. However, the rigid and fragile TFT backplanes limit OLED display applications for flexible and wearable display products. Therefore, if there is a way to fabricate a high-quality (same quality as market-available high-end flat panel displays) OLED display panel without a TFT backplane, we could realize the dream display devices, which will be very useful at a battlefield especially for soldiers and pilots. Here, we propose a novel projection-type display as an alternative solution for TFT-less displays. While projection displays have been used for extremely large display screens (> 100 inch) until now, it is impossible to achieve excellent quality projected images because current projection display uses the reflection of visible lights, which always exist everywhere where people are. Our novel projection display uses infrared (IR) projection lights instead of visible lights for providing display images, thus totally eliminating the drawbacks of reflected visible projection lights currently used in projection screens.OLED,TFT-less,Flexible Display, projection display,Infrared
