Origin (San Francisco, CA), founded in 2016, has developed a programmable photopolymerization (P3) 3D printing system that extends the boundaries of mass additive production and sets our target on the $13T global plastics manufacturing market. We leverage an open network of material partners that compete to develop world-class materials on behalf of our customers. Origin maintains close relationships with these partners and works with customers to develop custom materials when and where desired. This provides best-in-industry material availability and flexibility. The system was designed and built by software engineers, empowering software-driven platform design that increases functionality, while decreasing overall system cost. Origin unleashes advanced software settings and APIs to give customers voxel and layer-level print process controls. Our systems are built on top of cloud-based applications for elastic computing power, while providing customers the option for on-premise deployments (upcoming). With lower system costs and an open network of material providers, Origin is the first additive company to truly enable additive mass production. We work with customers in verticals ranging from dental to automotive to contract manufacturing to aerospace to footwear to government and beyond. Origin counts massive, global material companies, such as BASF and DSM, as our network partners.additive manufacturing,3D Printing, supply chain, efficiency, speed,Materials,Software

Origin is excited to bring the Air Force the same additive manufacturing (AM) capabilities of our top, innovative commercial customers who demand high-quality, highly-repeatable parts and fast printing and post-processing times in the form of a shovel-ready Phase II opportunity. Our work in connecting with the right potential USAF customers included matching commercial needs with similar defense needs. These needs included: the ability to print parts on demand or at volume with quick turnaround times, the capability to produce parts in austere locations, the ability to iterate on a part easily and quickly, and the opportunity to create tools and sustain aging products for lower costs. Origin is pleased to develop a customized Origin system for the USAF for this Phase II project. In addition to the proposed cost to the AFWERX, Origin has an additional commitment of over $2.5 million from private capital to contribute to the success of this project. This private capital falls slightly outside of the consideration for the RAPID award but will assist in the development of synergistic components to this project. The Origin solution will enable the adaptive AM technology that the USAF needs to continue to deliver mission success and air superiority.
