Novo Space is developing an ecosystem of affordable, high performance electronics for LEO space systems. Under this Phase I SBIR, Novo will accomplish two primary objectives: conduct USAF market research and complete prototype functional testing. The market research will include interviewing individuals from USAF satellite programs of record (e.g., SBIR, AEHF, GPS, etc.) and research organizations (e.g., AFRL Small Satellite Portfolio, SMC Advanced Systems and Development Directorate, etc.) in order to better understand their pain points, common issues, desired system features, system requirements, sourcing requirements, development cycles, procurement cycles, future system architectures, and future opportunities in regards to space system electronics. Prototype functional testing will prepare the latest Novo Space signal processing board, "Smart Carrier II,"? for demonstration to potential customers. These activities including fabrication, power distribution testing, and programmability testing, which is expected to significantly de-risk product commercialization. Overall, the award of this Phase I SBIR would help Novo Space bring more affordable, high performance, plug-and-play satellite electronics to the USAF and enable the next generation of space-based capabilities. Novo Space intends to submit for Air Force Space Pitch Day taking place in November 2019.
