In this proposal, we describe an innovative application of high thermal conductivity materials, to make a monolithic cooling device which is passively cooled but can handle heat flux of the order of 1200 W/cm2. Also, the core technology is extendible to any convective cooling and will provide similar benefit there too.
Benefit: Enhancement in passive cooling to reach the capability to cool high power laser diodes can add tremendous capability to the future military and communication systems. The proposed concept can make passive cooling applicable to previously unattainable levels.
