The technology resulting from this effort will provide a theoretical wear model which, although focused on predicting slipper surface wear associated with Air Force high-speed sleds, can be utilized with appropriate input modifications to predict wear in a range of mechanical devices where high-pressure and high-velocity surfaces are utilized. In addition, a high-speed, high-pressure pin-on-disk wear device will be fabricated, assembled, and validated for use in validating the basic wear model and for evaluating tribological material and/or coating systems.
