Phase I year
2002
Phase I Amount
$99,399
We propose to apply ISET's non-vacuum process for fabricating high efficiency thin film CIGS solar cells on polymeric substrates. This project has the potential to meet the specific power density and low cost goals set by US Air Force. The success of this project will have a positive impact on both the space and terrestrial solar power markets.

Benefits:
The project has a potential to meet the specific power density and low cost goals set by various space power projects. The success of this project will have a positive impact on the terrestrial markets also

Phase II

Contract Number: ----------
Start Date: ----    Completed: ----
Phase II year
2003
Phase II Amount
$1,494,736
A non-vacuum process for fabricating CIS/CIGS type solar cells and monolithically integrated sub-modules on 0.001" thick polyimide (Upilex)substrate is proposed. This projects aims at achieving AM0 efficiencies of 10% for solar cells giving a specific power density >1700 watts/Kg and a total area AM0 efficiency of 7% for sub-modules in which the specific power density exceeds 1000 watts/Kg.
