Current composite propellant formulations utilizing a Carboxyl Terminated Polybutadiene (CTPB) biner are hampered by having only one source of this material available which can meet the propellant specifications. Many of the commercial CTPB materials available do not meet the requirements of molecular weight, acid content and other polymer properties that are needed to form a high performance composite propellant. The proposal details the formation of CTPB prepolymers in supercritical solvent, which will yield a high purity polymer product for use in propellant binders.
