The liquid catalyst for flooded type lead-acid batteries developed by BAT Technology is a rather new innovative product. As a basic research, this proposal attempts to improve this catalyst so that our proposed catalysts/additives can extend battery life up to ten times and increase the battery's total capacity by one half. Our confidence comes from the evaluation of chemistries of our proposed catalysts/additives, which are not only a combination of catalyst and additive, but also are multifunctional for both catalysts and additive. The essential chemistry of the catalysts is by suppression of the side reactions of main electrochemical reactions of the batteries to increase charge and discharge efficiencies and capacities, and the essential chemistry of the additive is the elevation of material utilization. In this research, a tentative accelerated life test is also developed, which constitutes another integral part of our contribution. Our initial attempts have been proved very successful. When this new and novel catalysts/additives developed here are added to the electrolyte, it will elevate the performance of lead-acid battery to a new higher level. Furthermore, our technology can be also expanded to other conventional and new batteries.
