In March 2012, Paratek Inc was acquired by Canadian firm Research in Motion (RIM) - perhaps better known as Blackberry. Previously doing business as Paratek Microwave, Inc. and now to be known as Balckberry RF Inc., he firm designs and manufactures adaptive radio frequency front-end component solutions for mobile wireless applications requiring multi-mode and multi-band operation. The company produces ParaTune family of passive tunable integrated circuits (ICs) by utilizing a thin-film tunable material called ParaScan. Its RF-tunable capacitive circuits are used as reactive elements in filters, power amplifier ICs, adaptive antenna matching circuits, and phase shifters. The company also produces integrated tunable products, including adaptive impedance matching modules and radio antenna frequency tuners by using ParaTune tunable ICs as fundamental building blocks. Its products are used in wireless mobile devices, and defense and civilian communication systems. Paratek Microwave, Inc. was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Nashua, New Hampshire with engineering development facilities in Crystal Lake, Illinois; and Burlington, Canada.
