Public Profile
In February 2016, GATR was acquired by Cubic Corporation, an international provider of systems and solutions that address the mass transit and global defense market. It was reported that GATR would continue to operate as a separate entity. GATR (Ground Antenna Transmit and Receive) develops and manufactures inflatable satellite communication antennas and terminals that provide deployment and high-bandwidth communications in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Offering ultra-portable, lightweight, and stand-alone communications terminals, the company provides antenna systems for emergency response, humanitarian aid, broadcast, and military applications in the United States and internationally. Developed under DoD Sponsorship, this unique patented inflatable antenna design allows for a wider aperture (thereby reducing satellite transfer costs) without the added bulk and weight associated with rigid deployable systems. When deflated, the antennas are small enough to fit in the trunk of a small vehicle, and they can even be shipped (non-freight) using a carrier such a Federal Express, thereby reducing shipping costs. The antennas have demonstrated their usefulness in a variety of other applications, such as emergency response and Media/Entertainment.
