Flexible ultrasonic arrays can readily detect delaminations and disbonds in composites. Recent experience has shown that thermal damage in composites may also be characterized with ultrasound. This SBIR project will investigate flexible arrays for implementing this advanced ultrasonic technique. The resultant flexible array systems could be configured for rapid characterization of both thermal damage and other defects in composites.
