Thermal Wave Imaging, Inc. is focused to the advancement of infrared Nondestructive Testing (NDT), providing systems and services to customers in the aerospace, power generation and automotive industries. The company utilizes Flash and/or Pulsed Thermography, which occurs when a heat source, such as a brief pulse of light, is used to heat the surface of a sample while an infrared camera records changes in the surface temperature. As the sample cools, surface temperature becomes affected by internal flaws such as disbonds, voids or inclusions, which obstruct the flow of heat into the sample. Flash/Pulse thermography, combined with TWI's Thermographic Signal Reconstruction (TSR) method, provides the fastest, most quantifiable and repeatable approach to thermography for NDT. Aerospace applications include testing for impact damage, water ingress, adhesion, corrosion, thickness, cracks, porosity, and disbonds. Typical automotive applications for Thermographic NDT include inspection of spot welds, detection of corrosion, and inspection of adhesive bonding.
