Phase I

Contract Number: ----------
Start Date: ----    Completed: ----
Phase I year
2005
Phase I Amount
$97,534
The purpose of the proposed effort is to study the feasibility of developing an analysis system that will optimize technological parameters within the Integrated Concept Analysis Tool (ICET) at the Air Force Research Lab's Munitions Directorate (AFRL/MN). The goal is to leverage the capabilities of advanced optimization codes such as Sandia Laboratory's Dakota Project by using the metric's collected by an ICET scenario as iterative inputs to the optimization codes

Phase II

Contract Number: ----------
Start Date: ----    Completed: ----
Phase II year
2006
Phase II Amount
$779,674
The focus of the Phase II effort is derived from both the successful development of the working ICET-AS prototype completed for the Phase I effort and an understanding of how this capability can be further enhanced to best serve the Air Force modeling and simulation community. Phase II will focus on solving the complex problem of developing a complete, end-to-end weapon design tool (WDT) prototype. The effort to solve the Phase II problem can be stated in two parts. The first is the development of tools and interfaces to equip the existing architectures with the capability to perform as a WDT framework. The second is the selection of the models necessary to integrate into the WDT framework to complete an example experiment. For the first time high-fidelity legacy models that normally operate in standalone fashion will be made to conform to a framework that is capable of producing data, of quantity and quality, associated with a trade study in short amount of time. A valid example experiment will involve the use of the prototype WDT to produce a viable trade study analysis.
