Public Profile

PAR Technologies, Inc. was founded to advance the state of the art in polymer materials and bonding techniques using polyimide films. Early in the company's history this Research led to the laminating of piezo materials with various substrates to enhance the performance, utility and durability of standard piezo elements. This early work was fortuitous, leading to the discovery of a new process for manufacturing PAR's exclusive high performance Rugged Laminated Piezo (RLP) actuators. PAR's proprietary capabilities include their unique piezo-ceramic materials, bonding, laminating and fabricating techniques which provide PAR RLP actuators with special and very unique performance characteristics. These include: * Greater deflections than standard piezo devices due to PAR RLP actuators being able to withstand higher voltages (400Vp-p) * Greater operating temperature range, from -40 degrees C to 225 degrees C. * Extraordinary durability. PAR RLP devices have been tested continuously through 2.0 billion cycles. * Resistance to typical solvents, corrosives and erosives. With the advent of the PAR high performance Rugged Laminated Piezo actuator, the Company has focused on the investigation of unique, advanced Applications for RLP actuators. As a result, the Company has developed Products and Applications that include, but are not limited to: miniature PAR Pumps for liquids and gases, ultra-sonic mixing Actuators, drug infusion pumps, flat panel and other speaker Exciters, rugged Sensors for harsh environments and others. Through its applications Research, PAR Technologies continues to advance the state of the art in high performance Rugged Laminated Piezo actuators and to develop applications and Products utilizing PAR proprietary technologies. Through its Products, PAR Technologies intends to become a leading developer and supplier of high performance, miniature piezo-ceramic pumps, RLP actuators, speaker exciters, piezo microchip cooling fans, and rugged piezo sensors. PAR is presently working with numerous industry leading companies to research, develop, and produce miniature piezoelectric actuator applications and solutions for strategic product opportunities. PAR Technologies is working with industry leading companies in targeted market segments to advance the adoption of PAR technology. These working arrangements range from contract research and development to the licensing of PAR technology to direct investment. PAR Technologies extensive research has yielded proprietary, advanced capabilities in the following areas related to piezoelectric devices Bonding and Laminating - PAR's RLP technology enables the bonding of ceramic piezo devices to almost any substrate. The subsequent RLP performance can be tailored to both application and environmental requirements. Drive Circuits - PAR custom low current draw drive circuits maximize the advanced capabilities of PAR high performance Rugged Laminated Piezo actuators. Valves and Fluid Dynamics - PAR's advances in valve design and fluid dynamics have enabled considerably greater flows and pumping efficiency than those in competitive piezo actuated pumps. Housing Design - The unique design of the PAR Pump housing enables the RLP actuator to provide the highest flows - up to 1.3 liters/minute - ever achieved using piezo actuators. The housing can be made of nearly any machineable/injectionable plastic or metal. PAR Technologies current Products include RLP technology based miniature (less than 2.5 cm (1") square) PAR Pumps. These tiny pumps can provide flow from mere microliters to over 1.3 liters/minute at pressures exceeding 3 psi.
