The flavonoids are well known for their potent antioxidant properties and have potential to improve health. However, it is is essential that the structures of new compounds are proven prior to study of their physiological activity. Current approaches to proof of structure of these compounds are costly and time consuming. We propose to demonstrate an efficient NMR approach to proof of structure of these compounds using four novel dimeric procyanidins made from monomers obtained from Douglas-fir bark and green tea leaves.
