The performance of a new GPS receiver design, acquiring and tracking the L5 satellite transmissions, will be analyzed to evaluate suitability for fabrication and performance testing in later phases of the program. Included in this phase will be the design of the software which will operate the receiver and produce the navigation outputs.
Benefits: When new GPS satellites broadcasting the L5 signal are available, receivers for commercial uses will benefit by having more robust navigation/positioning solutions, less susceptible to interference and exhibiting greater precsion.
