Adaptive Technologies, Inc. merged with SBIR firm Aegisound LLC in 2014, having previously in 2008 spun off Aegisound and operating as the firm's design supplier. Adaptive Technologies provided R&D, design and engineering, and consultation on products and problems associated with noise control, hearing protection, signal processing, and control theory. The firm provided communication solutions for military and commercial applications involving dangerous noise levels. In October 2015, it was announced that Gentex Corporation had acquired Aegisound to expand the larger firm's hearing and communications product offering to global defense and industrial personnel, and to the F-35 JSF program portfolio
