Bipolar Technologies is focused on the development and production of innovative battery technologies. In addition to the microbatteries, Bipolar Technologies also is developing bipolar batteries for hybrid electric vehicles and other applications. Bipolar Technologies was founded by Dr. Rodney LaFollette, previously the engineering vice president of Enyon. Enyon, now-defunct, was a spinoff company that licensed BMDO IS&T-funded bipolar battery technology from BYU in the early 1990s. The firm's microscopic batteries have been under development since 1997. Clients include corporations such as General Motors and Maxwell Laboratories.
