Acquired by MSC Software Corporation in 1999, Universal Analytics Inc developed engineering software. The customized engineering analysis software was used by manufacturers of mechanical products, such as the automobile, aerospace and construction industries. The firm had NASA contracts that pre-dated SBIR by about a decade analyzing the slapdown impact of a flexible cylindrical structure. The slapdown analysis begins after the initial nozzle impact effects have subsided. The user selects the initial position and velocities at the start of the slapdown phase and the total period for the analysis.
