The proposed program will apply the well-developed technology of ISAR (Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging to the detection, location and evaluation of voids and void aggregates in resin-matrix composite structures. If good correlation is obtained between the electromagnetic scattering of void aggregates and the degradation of mechanical and physical properties, ISAR imaging will provide an excellent, cost-effective in process inspection tool, either independently or in combination with other NDE TECHNIQUES.
