Public Profile
SPEC Inc, -- also known as Stratton Park Engineering Co, -- is a cloud physics research and instrumentation company - active in the SBIR arena for now many years - involved with the design, fabrication, and installation of innovative instruments on research aircraft. SPEC developed its first cloud particle probe, the high volume precipitation spectrometer (HVPS). The newest version of the HVPS, HVPS-3, uses real-time and post-processing software along with opto-electronics to probe precipitation sized particles and capture them using a 2D-S 128-photodiode array with 150 micron pixel resolution. HVPS-3 has been flown on research aircraft used during recent field projects including Sparticus, MACPex and ICE-T. SPEC has also designed and built sensors and data acquisition systems for universities, institutes, and government agencies, both domestic and international. In addition, a large component of SPECs mission is analyzing data that has been collected with the companys instruments and publishing their results. SPEC has participated in several major International Field Programs, developed over 500,000 lines of software codes used to process and analyze data and now makes all of its custom software source code available to all users on their website.
