Public Profile
Savi was an early SBIR success story with one of the first major follow-on contracts with an SBIR-involved player by DOD to buy Savi's developed technology. With the focus of development of RFID, with Savi's technologies fully deployed in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and were publicly judged by key general at the time as saving DOD billions of dollars. The firm was subsequently acquired by Texas Instruments - a collaborator on the early SBIR funded projects. When the Defense Electronics division of that firm was itself acquired by Raytheon, the Savi capabilities became somewhat untethered. In 1999, some of the orginal management team bought themselves and developed assets back as the basic for a new, privately held small firm. Between 2006 and 2012 Savi again became a subsiduary to a major Corporation, this time Lockheed Martin, In September 2012, the firm was acquired from Lockheed by the private equity firm LaSalle Capital. Savi Technology, Inc. provides sensor-based analytics solutions/platforms to logistics and supply chain/asset and cargo tracking operations.
