The proposed effort will result in an Automatic Telemetry Stream Data Format Generation System. This system will replace the present manual format generation processes used by Flight Test Instrumentation Engines with a flexible, automated system which will significantly reduce cost and the time required to generate formats. In Phase I, Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, Inc. (KMM) will compile a list of general rules that govern data stream formatting and bandwidth considerations and restrictions, define the structure of the generic formatter, generate the metrics to evaluate a formatter, and evaluate format generation algorithms. Base on this work and interactions with cognizant Air Force personnel, KMM will develop an Automatic Telemetry Stream Data Format Generation System concept for Phase II implementation which will consist of a generic formatter, a target system compiler, and a target system loader.The Phase I work will draw on the extensive research and development experience of Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, Inc., in developing electronic systems and subsystems for military and commercial use. McDonnel Douglas Aerospace will serve as a consultant for the proposed work, and will make available their intimate knowledge of an experience with flight test instrumentation and telemetry data formatting.
