Actively involved in SBIR from soon after founding of the firm but less so in recent years, the firm is now relocated to expanded space, PhaseX Corporation remains organized around their long term focus of application of supercritical fluids to the development of innovative, industrially-viable separation processes for extracting, purifying, recrystallizing, and fractionating a wide range of polymers, natural materials, and specialty and fine chemicals. The company early pioneered the application of supercritical fluids to fractionation of polymers and lubricants for enhanced viscosity performance, processing of reactive monomers and heat labile surfactants to purity levels not achievable with vacuum distillation or wiped film evaporation, recrystallization of pharmaceuticals and biomaterials with uniformity of particle size not obtained with mechanical or jet milling, and extraction/ separation of pharmaceutical, food, and natural extract products that are free of solvent residues.
