The application of modern Computer Aided System Engineering(CASE) tools, coupled with object oriented programming and the fullexploitation of modern AI techniques and graphics technology is proposed todevelop a simulation architecture that will address the Army's logisticsand sustainment systems from the industrial base to the individual weaponsystem user. The APJ technique can address logistics support at almost anydesired level of resolution ranging from quick response overall planningand evaluation down to the details required for a specific contingency TimePhased Force Development List (TPFDL). The concept of an Architecturepermits a consistent development from Phase I thorough Phase II and intoApplication. Technology, doctrine, and organization alternatives may be"played" from a readiness posture through to combat. Our approach permitsthe evaluation of potential systems, assessments of those in being, andprovides a basis for decision support. An important feature of oursimulation technique is that as a by-product, it provides both insights andthe "Why" of the decision process. User interaction, and the capability toaccept input from a wide diversity of sources assists in addressingsituational dynamics.
