This proposal consists of a program for the development of a technology to use an unconventional material as projectiles, warheads and fragmentation devices in weapons systems. Some research on the use of this material as projectiles has been accomplished with private funds. However, due to the unavailability of mechanisms to propel larger projectiles onto target materials, testing has been limited. The results of the research performed to date has been impressive and we feel warrants the further research and development of this technology. Potential applications for the projectiles include air to ground ammunition, air to air ammunition, large penetrators and fragmentation devices. The advantages are that projectiles fabricated from the material provides excellent penetration of hard targets, are corrosion resistant, environmentally safe and with the same grain weight of propellant now used have substantially increased velocity.
