A multi-octave (30-500 MHz) passive monopole antenna design is proposed. The design concept is based upon the combination of 2 new techniques. A proven sectoralized radiating element, combined with the self complementary antenna principle as defined by Y. Mushiake. Ultra broadband radiation pattern performance and impedance characteristics are anticipated. The performance goals are to achieve 0 dB gain across the specified frequency band in the minimum size package. Very low loss materials shall be studied to determine survivability in a field deployment. The technique may be expanded to determine minimum size antennas over any specified band of operation. Only materials that are commercially available shall be used.
