This proposal describes a research program to develop fast algorithms for real-time estimation, prediction and control. Such algorithms would provide a solution to a critical problem faced in both industrial and military applications - - the fact that the algorithms used to implement state-of-the-art statistical estimation, prediction and control techniques are far too slow for many real-time or nearreal-time applications of high interest, even using the fastest computers.
