This proposal is to develop an innovative link between remote sensing, expert systems, and geographic information system technologies to environmental models. The Visual Environment Modeling and Analysis Tool (VEMAT) integrates 1) an image analysis expert system, 2) a geographic information system, and 3) environmental models. VEMAT will increase the exploitation potential of environmental modeling by providing an effective, user friendly means to manage land and water resources, and assess environmental risks and impacts. A visually integrated analysis environment will permit more effective manipulation, storage, and analysis of the voluminous data sets produced by NASA and EPA.
