In November 1992 Oncor - a Gathersburg MD firm working on DNA probes for cancer and genetic diseases - acquired American Innovision, a San Diego-based company focused on development of highly- sensitive, color cameras and software-based imaging systems, specializing in color image analysis for biomedicine and medical packaging inspection. With the acquisition, Oncor maagement indicated intent to develop and market image analysis systems in conjunction with its microscope slide-based DNA probe tests for the early detection and management of cancer and other genetic diseases. The firm subsequently introducing its integrated image analysis system at the American Society of Human Genetics Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
