The seller proposed to investigate a novel technique which would allow the realization of a compact, low cost, one dimension scanned phased array with broadband, millimeter wave, dual-polarization capability such as might be require d in electronic warfare polarimetric radar, seeker and elintapplications. Previous data is provided to show performance already obtained by a similar unit in a frequency scaled version. The work proposed under phase i will result in the development of mechanical packaging configurations for complete planar arrays that provide electronic scan in one ddimension. During phase i it is expected that most feasibility ecperiments requiring components are already available and where fabrication costs are lower. During phase ii the development of a fully operational millimeter- wave phased array antenna is anticipated. This array will implement the element design and one of the array packaging configurations developed during phase i.
