Phase I

Contract Number: N60530-91-C-0281
Start Date: 7/1/1991    Completed: 1/1/1992
Phase I year
1991
Phase I Amount
$50,600
We propose to develop a computer-aided design (CAD) tool equipped with a unique database for designing omnidirectional, circularly-polarized wraparound microstrip antennas. In the Phase I effort, we will characterize the design process systematically and establish a CAD methodology. The goal of Phase I is to demonstrate the viability of such a tool. The end product of Phase I will include a sample wraparound microstrip antenna design for missile telemetry with a prescribed set of design criteria.

Phase II

Contract Number: N68936-94-C-0023
Start Date: 12/29/1993    Completed: 12/29/1995
Phase II year
1993
Phase II Amount
$508,811
A computer-aided simulation/design tool for desingning omnidirectional, circularly-polarized wraparound microstrip antennas is proposed. Continuing on our Phase I effort, the goal of this project is to provide antenna designers with a practical tool for obtaining an optimal design quickly and fficiently using a personal computer. Pertinent design factors such as curvature of the mounting surface and mutual coupling between patches will be accounted for in the proposed design tool. This Phase II proposal outlines the work to be done on the implementation and validation of such a tool. Sample prototypes for missile telemetry application will be designed and built for demonstrative purposes
