BUILDlab combines architectural design with software design for improved building performance. After establishing itself as a design and build firm specializing in low-energy architecture and construction, it has quickly grown a software start-up arm, in part through funding from the US Department of Energy Office of Science. Its core software, Apidae, is a cloud-based analysis suite for building energy models, including tools for model calibration, Model Predictive Control (MPC) and innovative techniques for developing rule-based control laws. BUILDlab’s team combines advanced energy simulation applications experts with leading-edge software designers to provide innovative solutions and new opportunities for the building energy efficiency field.
