Formerly doing business as Idaho Technology, Inc., in 2012, management changed the name to BioFire Diagnostics, Inc. better to reflect the company's focus in molecular diagnostics and biosurveillance. In September 2013, the firm was then acquired by the French in vitro diagnostics firm BioMérieux. In January 2014 BioFire Diagnostics merged with bioMerieux better to serve their markets and customers, and meet government regulations on security and business ownership, BioFire Diagnostics split into two companies: BioFire Diagnostics and BioFire Defense. BioFire Diagnostics is now the Center of Excellence for Molecular Diagnostics and responsible for manufacturing, marketing and sales of the FilmArray system.BioFire is a clinical diagnostics company, developing, manufacturing, distributing, and selling diagnostic respiratory panels to hospital-based clinical laboratories in the United States and Europe.
