In December 2021, it was reported that Freestone Enviromental had been acquired by CA based Deep Isolation - itself a startup with an equitable and environmentally protective solution for nuclear waste storage or disposal having fairly substantial VC backing. Since 1997, Freestone Environmental Services, Inc. had functioned as a multi-disciplinary environmental and water resources consulting firm whose major service areas included 1) Environmental Compliance and Regulatory Support, 2) Environmental Investigation, 3) Ecological and Environmental Studies, 4) Risk Assessment, 5) Remediation, and 6) Water Resources. With a highly expienced staff and a project history of demonstrated success in serving federal contractors, subcontractors, municipalities, school districts, industrial clients, and commercial enterprises throughout the Pacific Northwest, in December 2021 it was announced that - for an undisclosed amount - Freestone Environmental Services had been acquired by Berkeley CA-based Deep Isolation - a firm structured around disposal of nuclear waste storage that a year earlier had raised a $20M series A
