Public Profile

Dynamo is organzied around achieving high performance solutions in turbomachinery. Tackling the big challenge of building a versatile turbine platform that leveraged the strengths of turbines: fuel flexibility, reliability, and power density, Dynamo Micropower Corporation is developing a 10kW class gas generator that can be rapidly deployed in wide ranging applications. The firms’ initial product, the Dynamo Turbocore 7.5, uses gas turbine technology in a highly portable package; can run on all manner of fuels, from vodka through JP-8, as well as natural gas and propane, and its oil-less bearing system means minimal maintenance requirements during times of need. Units can be stored for years, then be brought online at a moment’s notice. With only two moving parts, Dynamo’s ultra-microturbine requires only annual maintenance and provides a significantly longer operating life over reciprocating solutions. By approaching microturbine design with a perspective focused on market price and functional needs, the firm is developing a simplified architecture, enabling further miniaturization and mass scale manufacturing of microturbines. The Dynamo Turbocore is ideal for applications that require a compact power package that can operate continuously. The Turbocore can operate for months without tending and is 1/5 the size and weight of a comparable diesel system, making it ideal for providing prime power for site operations, maintaining communications equipment and keeping the lights on. Furthermore, the smart power bus utilized by the Turbocore means more capacity can be added as demand chan
