Public Profile
LodeSpin Labs LLC is creating the next generation of iron oxide nanoparticle tracers for medical imaging, using technology developed by the founders at the University of Washington. LodeSpin Labs is able to commercialize Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) particles, an emerging process offering the potential for three-dimensional imaging with high sensitivity, high resolution and high imaging speed. The technique works by imaging the distribution of superparamagnetic nanoparticles injected into the body â achieved by measuring their response to an oscillating magnetic field.
LodeSpin tailors USPIO properties for specific applications in Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). By manipulating the size of the tracers at the nanoscale, the firm will be able to greatly improve their performance during imaging scans. The firms ultimate goal is to help the millions of patients who need MR and CT tracers each year, by providing a safe, effective alternative to existing products.
