Public Profile
In late March 2017, it was announced that PersimmonTechnolgies had been acquired by Sumitomo Heavy Industries. With the acquisition, SHI will add vacuum robotics and next generation electric motor technology to its product portfolio, aimed at driving additional growth to its semiconductor-related businesses including cryopumps and XY stages. Also, the Company plans to utilize the Hybrid-Field electric motor technology derived from Persimmonâs research and development, in its products, with the aim to achieve business expansion in such areas as gear reducers for industrial robotics and plastic extrusion machinery. Persimmon Technologies Corporation provides atmospheric and vacuum robotics, vacuum modules, automation systems and hybrid-field motor technology to the semiconductor, data storage, LED, OLED, solar, and flat panel display equipment industries. The companiesâ hybrid-field technology can act as a replacement for traditional stamped and laminated sheet metal motor stators with spray deposition technology, enabling the production of electric motors with improved performance and efficiency while reducing cost and material scrap associated with manufacturing of motor winding cores. The technology was originally invented to improve the performance of our robotics; however, the significantly increased output, smaller size and lower cost make this a technology that is quite attractive to many other markets, including the low voltage motor industry, a $10 billion market that makes extensive use of electric motors. Persimmon Technologies Corporation is also the exclusive Sales Representative for Nidec Sankyo atmospheric robotic products in the US
