The primary objective of this Phase 1 project is to perform customer discovery to identify an AF Customer and AF End User with a clear need for an adaptation of our EMPACT immersive training platform to accelerate the creation and sustainment of immersive training content relative to programs such as Pilot Training Transformation (PTT). Based on discussions with the 19th Air Force and the PTT organization, HTX believes that this need can be addressed through the following objectives: adapt HTX’s EMPACT immersive training platform to 1) accelerate the process for creating and sustaining immersive training content, 2) enable VR developers to rapidly create new immersive content using our EMPACT Studio no-code content creation tools and EMPACT Unreal/Unity software development kits (SDKs), 3) normalize and streamline the student user experience and flow from one immersive learning course to another, and 4) reduce the burden on instructors and administrators to manage, edit and maintain learning content over time. The mission impact of this project on the Air Force and the Department of Defense will be to enable the 19AF to create the next-generation aircrew training system that would be relevant to both crewed and remotely operated platforms. The envisioned EMPACT adaptations will be compatible with the open architecture platform approach for low-cost flight simulation using commercially available hardware and software, the government furnished application programming interface (API) for exchanging data, as well as the use of commercial gaming technology and cloud-based technology stack
