Trusted Semiconductor Solutions is proposing an approach to enable use of State of the Art (SOTA) Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) devices in naturally occurring or manmade radiation environments. Our approach marries a companion radiation sensing, circumvention, and recovery chipset to a COTS device. This solution detects and circumvents radiation without modifying or redesigning the COTS part. The COTS device is protected from damaging radiation events, and errors induced by radiation can be detected and corrected. Our solution specifically focuses on radiation performance for dose rate, total ionizing dose, and single-event effects up to strategic levels. The companion chipset integrates with the COTS device at die level in a single package. The technology will be demonstrated on a SOTA COTS FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).
