Spun out of a Cornell University experiment in fiber design, e2e Materials manufature products that are environmentally sound and physically superior, enabling companies to create better products from sustainable feedstocks, using less energy at lower cost. e2e Materials makes particleboard and walls from soy flour and fibers of natural grasslike materials. By buying the flour left over from soy production and using perennial supplies of lightweight fibers rather than diminishing stocks of lumber, e2e can significantly lower the amount of dedicated energy it takes to construct a house - avoiding fuel use means that, over time, e2eâs product will generate significantly fewer carbon emissions than wood. The company also is trying to grow flax within the state.
