Rotary Wing Naval Air crew are equipped with negatively buoyant hard armor plates that can impede survivability during water landings and emergency survival scenarios often resulting in drownings should the operator’s flotation device fail to deploy. The ability to for the air crew to selectively jettison heavy armor plates in water survival situations while maintaining their survival vest, and the attached equipment, is critical to the overall safety of the rotorcraft operator. Wolf’s Body Armor Release & Ejection System is a novel, rugged, and affordable body armor release system that seamlessly integrates into the air crew’s certified survival vest. The Body Armor Release & Ejection System eliminates the high friction resistance encountered during the removal of an armor plate due to the compressive forces of a tightly worn survival vest and includes a highly durable, quick release, latch. Overall the system adds negligible weight and bulk to the operator’s existing survival vest while equipping them with the ability to selectively jettison heavy armor plates during water survival scenarios.
