AcoustiComm's goal is to design and manufacture underwater communication equipment which will provide the world with a low cost solution to aquatic monitoring. AcoustiComm is in the design stage of developing a low-cost, highly efficient underwater wireless acoustic modem which will make possible dense, low cost underwater networks where the overwhelming expense using the currently available commercial acoustic modems made the networks previously not feasible. AcoustiComm's low cost acoustic modem will incorporate an internal power source and allow it to communicate at depths up to 100 meters and at transmission ranges up to 1,000 meters. The modem will attach to an underwater anchor and have the ability to connect to various external sensors to measure the surrounding aquatic conditions while incorporating a unique retrieval system which significantly reduces the typical maintenance costs associated with underwater communication devices.
