Lono LLC, dba SmartShade Inc., has developed SmarterShade, an emerging clean technology that allows windows, skylights and other glazings to be darkened on command. This technology, as part of a daylighting/natural heating strategy, has the potential to save the United States billions of dollars in energy costs. Until recently, these technologies had been too costly and too complex for any real market adoption. Lono has refined the intial technology to offer simpler, more practical smart glass solution. SmarterShade products do not require any electricity and may be designed as built-in or after-market products. The product helps to control light transmission, privacy, clarity and reflection, and also has a positive impact on the environment. The SmarterShade platform can be implemented both within a double paned window system and as an aftermarket addon to existing windows.
