Orbital Traction Ltd develops and commercializes a patented, industry proven continuously variable transmission technology – the Milner Continuously Variable Transmission or MCVT – for a broad range of applications in the mechanical power transmission and motion control markets. The company’s technology, MCVT, enables gains in energy efficiency over regular planetary gear transmissions while not requiring an external pressure mechanism (i.e. clamping of the belt or traction elements) to enable the CVT to function. Orbital Traction was founded by InterSyn Technologies Ltd, a technology incubator with the objective to develop and commercialize patented Milner CVT technology. The firm’s designs have been developed and refined through equity funding, as well as three Small Business Innovation Research contracts (SBIR’s) with the Department of Defense, resulting in three unique platform products. Its products have applications in agriculture, recreational vehicles, marine power take off units, wind power, and turf care equipment. The company was founded by InterSyn Technologies Ltd, a technology incubator, and is based in Houston, Texas.
